Total cost numbers are in for the water line break in Navasota a few weeks ago, and it costed the city a good chunk of change back on February 13th.
“Cost us around $0,000 total. That includes all the staff that was out. There were a lot of us out there that night. The lost water, the testing, we included everything in that total,” City Manager Brad Stafford said, during the most recent Grilling Stafford episode.
Now, the city was on the hook for the salaries and such. But, he says they are going to get their money back from the contractor, one way or the other.
‘So, the plan we are working on, is working with that contractor to repay us through extra work. We have some work that needs to be done, and that will save the city money if we can just swap that out for work. But, we are working on that process with the contractor, and engineer, right now,” Stafford explained.
He noted they did not go through city insurance, they instead went through the contractor, since the break was their fault.
