City of Navasota updates on storm damage

January 15, 2020 by Willy1550

Surveys of the damage from storms over last weekend reviewed in the City of Navasota. At Monday night’s Navasota City Council meeting, City Manager Brad Stafford gave an update on what reports and confirmed damage took place around Navasota.

“Fire and police were out working all night notifying the power companies about downed utility lines, trees in the roadway, debris int he roadway, broken railroad crossing arms, that sort of thing,” Stafford said. “The cemetery took probably the largest hit for city facilities. We had a lot of tree damage out there.”

Storms were bad enough that they knocked out power as well to many citizens, so much so that the Red Cross set up a shelter in town for those affected.

“Reports I received were that no citizen’s went to the shelter on either day it was open,” Stafford said.

Stafford also said the Navasota Center received some roof damage.
