City of Navasota’s $1.36 million natural gas bill from Winter Storm Uri reduced by over half

December 8, 2021 by Andre Perrard

After months upon months of negotiations, the City of Navasota has announced that their over million dollar natural gas bill from the February winter storm has been cut significantly.

In a press release sent Wednesday, the city says that Symmetry Energy Solutions has agreed to cut the $1.36 million dollar bill by 60 percent.

Winter Storm Uri, which hit during a week in February, took out power all across the state and is responsible for the massive energy bills that were wracked up when the Texas power grid failed.

The 60% reduction in the bill will save the city around $800,000. Mayor Bert Miller said in a statement, in part, that “resolving the gas invoice dispute in this manner is in the best interests of the citizens and local industry and businesses.”

The Public Utility Commission of Texas has made mandatory in recent weeks that electric providers winterize their equipment.
