The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office is holding a “Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events, or (CRASE) Class.
This class is designed to help civilians understand what they should do if confronted with an active shooter event.
The CRASE training is designed and built on the AVOID, DENY, DEFEND strategy.
Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, the role of law enforcement and civilian response options.
This training class was developed by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Center at Texas State University.
The class will be held Wednesday, October 16th from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Iola Community Center.
It is a free community program, however it’s not recommended to bring children, as there is sensitive content.
