Following nearly an hour of comment on the 249 toll road from nearly two dozen citizens, the Grimes County Commissioners Court reversed its earlier position April 13th, and supported the project.
First to speak was Pastor Mac Vaughn, appealing for the discussion to proceed gracefully.
Even with the four million dollars TxDot offered for local access, most opposed the road. One who favored it, though, was attorney Dale Felton. Speaking on behalf of 35 landowners, he cited a three million dollar survey of the next 50 years.
Another, Tommy Williams, wondered what the county would look like what trying to deal with that extra traffic without 249.
In the end, Precinct One Commissioner J.R. Green cast the only vote against the resolution supporting 249.
