CommonSpirit terminating services with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, local hospitals affected

October 20, 2020 by Andre Perrard

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas has announced that CommonSpirit Health intends to leave their network effective December 16th.

According to the news release, this would effect customers here in Grimes County, and in a few adjacent counties as well.

The two are reportedly working towards a mutually beneficial agreement, but the termination of the contract would remove them from the network of hospitals in 2021.

Facilities affected by the negotiations would include CHI St. Joseph Grimes Hospital, the Madison St. Joseph Health Center in Madison County, and CHI St. Joseph in College Station.

CommonSpirit was reportedly proposing rate increases that would drive up health care costs in most Southeast Texas communities they serve.
