Two locals have been named to the new Electric Reliability Council of Texas board.
The Public Utility Commission of Texas announced Monday afternoon that Congressman Bill Flores and Texas A&M Board of Regents member Elaine Mendoza were selected to the new ERCOT board. Flores was also named the Vice Chairman.
“I am excited to be working on this project. I think I have a particular expertise, with what I did in Congress, and serving on the Energy and Commerce Committee…I think we are really going to be able to do great things for Texas families and Texas businesses,” Flores said.
Flores and Mendoza join Paul Foster and Texas Central CEO Dr. Carlos Aguilar in guiding ERCOT. Flores currently serves as the US Representative for the 17th Congressional District. Mendoza is the immediate past chair of the Board of Regents, and remains on the board.
Also nominated to the board was Zin Smati of Houston. The ERCOT Board Selection Committee has three members left to name to the board.
