In the wake of the republican take-over of Congress, Speaker of the House John Boehner decided that Grimes County’s Congressman will take a step to the side in the Joint Economic Committee, as its Vice Chair.
Kevin Brady explains to Navasota News, the committee’s chair switches between the Senate and House, and in his previous tenure as chair, he focused on creating a free economy think-tank, getting the government out of the way and letting local businesses grow again.
He decided to run for office, Brady adds, because while working to build a business atmosphere as a manager of a chamber of commerce, he saw first-hand how damaging government can be.
And while on the subject of economy, the congressman says, while large corporations can handle the effects of the currently dropping oil prices, it certainly affects the little guy.
But these low oil prices won’t last forever, Brady goes on, adding that it’s a double sided issue.
Navasota News has been reaching out to local oil-related businesses for their take on the subject, but as of yet to no avail. Of course we’ll let you know if and when that changes.
