If you see construction on Highway 6 near FM 2, that is for the new overpass slated to go in that area, to increase safety for drivers.
That $18 million project began in November south of Navasota, and will lower Highway 6 at the intersection, with an overpass to go over the highway for FM 2.
Prompting the work was citizen concerns over major accidents that have happened at the intersection in recent years. Their work will also include new frontage roads, and replacement of both Highway 6 bridges over Beason Creek.
Work is expected to take about 37 months, with an overall finish date anticipated for the end of 2024.
