Modern, aesthetic updates to the alleyway in downtown Navasota are coming soon. At Monday (10/22) nights Navasota City Council meeting, a contract to reconstruct the alleyway in the 100 block between Farquhar and Railroad Streets was awarded. Tim Wolfe, the representative of Bleyl Engineering, explained who they awarded the contract to and why.
“The original estimate was $200,000. DNS contracting is the same contractor doing the sewer line project in town right now. As far as we can tell, everyone is happy with them…because of that…we recommend that the contract be awarded to DNS Contracting int he amount of $155,015,” Wolfe said.
The project will include the remove and replacement of sewer, water and gas mains plus the installation of new service lines and meters. Also, the asphalt will be removed and replaced with a concrete alley roadway.
The project is projected to take about 120 days. There is no set timeline yet for when the project will officially begin.
