Navasota’s Police Chief is quite happy with the city’s recent third First Responders Day. Shawn Myatt told City Council this week there was a good response from around 30 police, fire department and ems agencies who attended.
Myatt said a there was a lot of appreciation going on all around Navasota City Hall, both from those attending for those who serve them, and from the event itself for an increase in sponsors.
He reported both DPS and St. Joseph’s flew their helicopters to the event, and DPS brought their armored vehicle and it was a big hit and the bomb squad brought their robot and the kids really liked that.
The Grimes County Sheriff’s Department has a bit more operating capitol, the chief reported, winning the $500 First Responder Drawing. And while insisting he was not rubbing it in, Myatt reported that, consistent with years past, the police department again beat the firemen in the tug of war that traditionally ends First Responders Day.
Myatt also told Council that the P.D.’s Officer Garcia brought his personal drone to get some impressive aerial views of the event. And the chief advised Council to look for that video on Facebook.
