Navasota is one step closer to finalizing a new plan for brush pick today, following a lengthy, and then heated debate between Mayor Protem Peter Canney and Councilman Geoff Horn during Monday’s council meeting.
But in the end, Council came together, unanimously voting to have City Manager Brad Stafford write up a proposal for the hybrid waste collection plan.
The plan won’t increase the city’s monthly rate, while still using Republic Waste services for removal and includes the company’s bundle guide lines. Additionally, it will feature on-demand services, with pickup slated to be within 10 days from the initial call.
The proposal is set be brought up during the next council meeting.
And speaking of getting rid of trash, Stafford reported initial feedback from the recent citywide spring cleanup has been very positive with endorsements from both himself and Councilman Grant Holt.
The next regular City Council Meeting is Monday March 23rd in City Hall’s Council Chambers. And Navasota News will be there just in case you can’t be.
