It’s National 4H Week. And members of the Grimes County 4H Council recently plied Commissioners Court with a 4H birthday cake, as they personally conveyed the importance of the program to them.
First to speak was this year’s Grimes County 4H Chair, Iola’s Haley Mallett, who said the program has literally changed her life in the six years since she first joined giving her the chance to learn, lead and have a community wide family. The effervescent Mallet urged anyone with kids or grandkids to consider what Grimes’ 4H program can mean for them.
Then, following a unanimous vote by Commissioners, Grimes’ new Ag Agent Eric Zimmerman asked fellow Iolan and 4H Enthuthiast County Judge Ben Lehman to read the formal proclamation, adding Grimes County to the ranks of those celebrating National 4H Week.
Commissioners also approved a new economic development agreement with the Navasota Grimes County Chamber of Commerce, and authorized a thousand dollar donation to the Bedias Creek Soil and Water Conservation District.
