It took less than 15 minutes January 7th for county commissioners to unanimously and formally oppose the high speed bullet train proposed to be built through the County of Grimes.
Precinct 4s Pam Finke commented on the time and effort that went into the two-page document was a little more in-depth than other counties.
Precinct 3s Barbara Walker mentioned she’d received a lot of calls: mostly against the project.
New commissioner 2 David Dobyanski said he’d spoken with many without finding anyone in favor of it.
And precinct 1s J.R. Green added that this is his job: to listen to the folks who voted for him . . . His bosses.
Then, as he added a fifth “yes” vote, the new Grimes County Judge Ben Lehman promised that during his term he will cast a vote on every issue voted upon, a policy that County Attorney Jon C. Fultz confirmed afterwards, would be quite proper.
