County Officials Honored by Commissioners

January 3, 2017 by Willy1550

Grimes County Commissioners spent a good portion of their final session of 20-16 honoring several former officials for their outstanding service.

Former County Tax Assessor-Collector Connie Perry, for example, gave just five years short of a half-century in service to Grimes, for which County Judge Ben Lehman, on behalf of the court, proclaimed the last weekday of the year in her honor.

Though she was unable to attend personally, incoming Tax Assessor-Collector Mary Ann Waters presented an engraved watch (paid for, she explained, by elected and appointed officials) to Perry’s daughter, Danielle, who explained why her mom wasn’t able to be there herself; that she was still recovering from recent surgery and couldn’t wait to be back in county facilities as a civilian, and not as an employee.

The court also formerly recognized former District Clerk Gay Wells for her nine years of service to the county, and her husband, former Precinct Two Constable George, for his decade and a half of service.
