County Road Gets Prisoner Aid

March 17, 2016 by Willy1550

Sometimes paperwork problems lead to unsuspected good results. That’s what Grimes County precinct 3 Commissioner Barbara Walker discovered during an earlier commissioners court, after sending the wrong forms to the County Attorney in an attempt to get permission for Luther Unit inmates to help adopt a county road.

Jon C Fultz told Commissioners Warden William Jones went ahead and had some prisoners clean up one of the county’s roads and finished in about 30 minutes. there was one thing, however, warden jones was asking of the court in return, a letter confirming they’d done the work.

And you could almost see County Judge Ben Leman’s ears perk up as he heard Fultz convey the warden’s offer to help with similar projects in the future.

In other actions, the Court unanimously proclaimed both March as Red Cross Month in the County of Grimes and this April 5th as Mayor and County Recognition Day for National Service.
