County Vet Wants To Help Vets

January 27, 2016 by Willy1550

Current and former military heroes living in the County of Grimes now have a new resource, ready and willing to help them.

A veteran himself, James Lafferty, who recently took over the position of County Veterans Service Officer, says that while he’s still green to the job, he’s eager to help his fellow vets in any way he can.

In his youth, Lafferty tells Navasota News he was drafted during the Vietnam War, but ended up being sent first to Arizona, then to Germany for his 2-year tour, leaving as an Army Sergeant. The Houston escapee says he came to Grimes three years ago to be closer to his granddaughter, who lives in College Station.

He says you can drop by his office behind the District Attorney’s Office, anytime you need help finding programs designed for your particular needs.

We at Navasota News wish Lafferty much success in his new position and hope that he’ll be successful in helping vets here in grimes find life a little easier. If you’d like his help call him at 936-873-4490.
