Couple Up Navasota River Without a Paddle

April 22, 2015 by Willy1550

What was supposed to be a fun trip kayaking down the Navasota river late last Thursday April 9th, turned into a rescue mission.

Brazos County Sheriff’s Deputy Jim Stewart tells Navasota News, A man and woman were dropped off up river and expected to be finished in 2 hours. But he continues, the actual expected trip-time is more like twelve to fourteen hours. And after just five hours, the department was able to speak with the now-quarreling couple.

Thanks to the combined efforts of several Sheriff’s Deputies, Brazos County Volunteer Firefighters and a Game Warden, the couple made it safely to their final destination of Navasota early Friday morning.

And if you’re thinking of taking a trip down the Navasota river, Stewart has some advice, make sure you bring necessities like food, water and a cell phone, because just like what happened to the couple, anything can go wrong, including getting your timing right.
