According to a press release from the City of Navasota, “On Thursday, August 1, 2024, around 3 p.m., a Navasota Police Officer was investigating a crash in the 1000 block of Church Street. After the investigation, the officer observed a Nissan vehicle parked in a spot with a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver attempted to flee in his vehicle, but instead, exited the vehicle and evaded on foot. The officer pursued the driver several blocks while requesting officer assistance. Several Navasota Police Officers and Investigators arrived in the 900 block of South LaSalle and formed a perimeter. The driver was seen fleeing through a business and then crossing over a fence into a residential backyard. Officers were able to locate the driver hiding in a storage shed, and he was taken into custody and identified as Dexter Pratt (34) of Navasota.
Mr. Pratt was placed in a patrol unit and officers relocated back to the Nissan. A search of the Nissan was conducted, and officers seized over 24 ounces of marijuana, over 19 grams of crack cocaine, and evidence of narcotics distribution.
Mr. Pratt was charged with Evading Arrest/Detention with Prior Conviction, Possession of Marijuana 4oz – 5lbs, and Manufacturing/Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 4g-200g.”
