Crash near Lake Somervile kills four, sends Brenham man to hospital

May 12, 2020 by Willy1550

A weekend crash by Lake Somerville killed four people, and sent another Brenham man to the hospital.

Texas DPS says that the incident happened around 11 pm on Saturday night. A vehicle, travelling south on LBJ Drive, struck a guardrail and hit another vehicle travelling north. All four people in the other vehicle died.

The driver of the car travelling south, identified as 37 year old Ignacio Aviles of Brenham, was taken to CHI St. Joseph in Bryan in critical condition.

The victims in the other cars that were killed are identified as 37 year old Justin Richard of Houston, 18 year olds Chase Sowders and Jasmine Maxwell, and 6 year old Payton Francis, all three hailing from Somerville. Two of the four passengers in the car were not wearing a seat belt.

No word on if alcohol or speed was a factor in the crash, or if Aviles will face any charges.
