A Bedias resident suspected of a Northern Grimes County robbery three month ago has finally been captured, thanks in large part to the help of Grimes County Crimestoppers.
Grimes County Sheriff’s Investigator Kindale Pittman details for Navasota News that his officers discovered two female clerks at the Bedias Dollar General the morning of Friday, the 13th of January, who said they’d been robbed at gunpoint by two black men wearing masks who had also forcibly taken their purses during the incident.
And Pittman largely attributes the eventual arrest of 18-year-old Bedias resident Dante Dewayne Owens last month to information supplied through the local crime-fighting organization.
Owens was apprehended early one morning last month at a San Antonio hospital where he’d checked in for treatment following a minor traffic accident. Owens was transported to the Grimes County Jail on April 5th and formerly charged with two charges of Aggravated Robbery, a First-Degree Felony punishable by 5 to 99 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
That’s $10,000 per charge, or $20,000 altogether. Owens is currently residing in the Grimes County Jail on a $20,000 bond as he awaits the decision of a grand jury in his case.
