Curfew established for Madison County

April 13, 2020 by Willy1550

Madison County has announced a curfew for its residents.

County Judge Tony Leago announced that, effective Monday, April 13th, a curfew will be in place from 11:59 pm to 5 am each day. Individuals are to remain in or on personal property and avoid travelling on any public road or highway during that time.

He says the reasoning behind it was so residents could have at least some peace of mind.

“We have had some burglaries in our county…with everything going on in peoples lives, I think they would at least like the peace and comfort of being able to sleep at night without having to worry about their properties,” said Judge Leago.

According to the release, individuals travelling to or from a place of employment, assisting with emergency operations, or travelling through the county is exempt. It will also not apply to licensed food establishments.

Anyone who violates the order is subject to a $1,000 fine and/or 180 days in the Madison County jail.
