There’s a familiar face at Navasota High School, as NISD Superintendent Stu Musick announces the hiring of the Rattler’s new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, Casey Dacus.
Dr. Musick says the Dacus family is known and loved and well-respected around the Navasota area. Casey graduated from Navasota High School in 1994.
Out of 123 original applicants and a dozen candidates who were interviewed, Musick says Dacus rose above the rest of the pack for a number of reasons. Number one, Musick admits, is that Dacus is already a part of Rattler Nation.
With a family that has lived here in Navasota for 23 years, Musick says he knows Navasota and Navasota knows him. And he’ll be able to relate to the kids here because he has been in their shoes.
For the past seven years, Musick tells Navasota News Dacus has been coaching as the offensive coordinator at Graham High School in North Central Texas, south of Wichita Falls and west of Fort Worth. He started here on Monday, March 5th.
Dacus received his BA from Abilene Christian University where he was on the dean’s list, was academic all-conference, and met his future bride, Jody. They were married in 2001 and are proud parents of 13-year-old Camden, 11-year-old Jaydn, and 7-year-old Collin.
