Friday is a special day dedicated to the latest state champions from Grimes County!
“We, as the Commissioner’s Court of Grimes County, and the City Council of Iola, do hereby designate Friday, December 18th, 2020 as Iola Lady Bulldog Volleyball Day in Grimes County, Texas,” said County Judge Joe Fauth at the Wednesday meeting of Commissioner’s Court.
The Iola Lady Bulldogs volleyball team won the state championship on November 21st with a 3-1 win over Crawford, to claim the schools third volleyball state championship.
The 2020 Iola Lady Bulldogs join a number of Grimes County teams that have won state championships:

1976 Richards Panthers boys basketball
1990 Navasota Rattlers boys basketball
2006 Anderson-Shiro Owls baseball
2012 Navasota Rattlers football
2014 Navasota Rattlers football
2014 Iola Lady Bulldogs volleyball
2015 Iola Lady Bulldogs volleyball
On their run to state, Jenna McDougald, Cadence Hoyle and Ava Pointer were named to the 2A State All-Tournament Team. McDougald was also selected to the TGCA All-Star 1A-4A Game, which will be played in July.
There will also be a proclamation for the team at Iola High School this Friday, December 18th.
