A man was arrested near Iola last Thursday with over 150 pounds of marijuana.
According to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, they pulled over a vehicle just south of Iola, on FM 39 around 3 am. The driver said he and the passenger were making a drive from San Diego to Houston. Authorities said the driver looked nervous, and admitted to having a handgun. Once that was secured, the driver consented to a search of the vehicle.
Several duffel bags were found, containing vacuum sealed bags of suspected marijuana, plus an AR-15 and two bulletproof vests.
The driver was arrested, and identified as 51 year old Jerome Icasiano. He was charged with marijuana possession, three counts of unlawful carrying of a firearm, theft of a firearm, and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.
The drugs were taken to the Sheriff’s Office, and found to have a total weight of 151 pounds.
