Drug Abuse & Facts Week Facts

February 13, 2017 by Willy1550

The 7th annual National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week took place recently, in an effort by the National Institutes of Health to help our kids avoid dangerous substances.

For the last four of those years, Tanner Williams has worked with Grimes County youth; both in the Agrilife Extension and at CHI Grimes St. Jo.  And he says that from what he’s seen, Grimes is one of the safer counties in the state.

Our law enforcement and other organizations are promoting healthy living, he says, and most of our kids catch on.  It’s for the few that don’t, Williams tells Navasota News, that this program can truly make a difference, no matter what’s causing their drug-seeking behavior.

And whether you have kids, work with kids or are a kid yourself, Williams says there’s an online resource standing by to help.

Although National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week is only 1/52 of the year, that website is available year-round.  Jot down the address: It’s teens dot drug abuse dot g-o-v.
