A Hempstead couple was killed on Sunday after a crash on Highway 290.
According to Texas DPS, a Ford Escape was travelling east on Highway 290, and tried turning on FM 1736, between Hempstead and Brenham.
The Ford Escape did not have the right of way, and was struck on the passenger side by another car.
The two people in the Ford Escape were identified as 77 year old’s Gary King and Janice King, both of Hempstead. They were pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
Two people in the other car involved were taken to the hospital, but were not seriously hurt.
No one else was injured or involved in the crash.
