Entergy Texas will begin firing a propane cannon at their substation in downtown Navasota in the coming two weeks or so, something many locals might already be used to.
In a release from Entergy, they say vultures in the past have cause power problems for residents in our area. Black vultures, due to their protected status, can be difficult to remove. To deter the birds from landing on electrical equipment and causing problems, the Entergy team will begin firing off the propane cannon, which has been proven successful in the past.
The blasts will be set off by motion detectors near their vital equipment. The cannon blasts will not be harmful to the birds.
Citizens near the substation will hear blasts but should not be alarmed. The propane blasts will begin the first week of March.
