Navasota’s Falco’s Grocery was given an unintentional drive-through, after a car drove through it. Navasota Police Department reports 36-year-old Christal Flores of Navasota hydroplaned into the empty store Sunday December 27th, leaving quite a mess for owner Gene Falco.
Not only did Flores suffer only non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash, but, Falco explains, it could not have come with better timing because they had planned on closing down, anyway.
With oil prices on the down-slide, Falco says his business has been feeling the squeeze as local giants, NOV Grant Pride Co and Elwood Forge, have cut-back on their workforce and thereby, his custumers’ pocketbooks.
The week was supposed to be the store’s final good-bye to the community, but he continues, because of the destruction caused by the crash, it just wouldn’t be safe.
We at Navasota News wish Falco the best of luck in his next endeavor, wherever and whatever that may be.
