Family and Texas History

October 3, 2014 by Willy1550

If you’ve ever wondered how your family’s ancestors may have fitted in with the history of the State of Texas, the Star of the Republic Museum has scheduled a workshop this month that’ll help you find out.

Curator Shawn Carlson tells Navasota News, the October 11th session will focus on the basics of genealogical research. And she is hoping families related to signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence will take part.

They are bringing in genealogist Heather Kramer to lead the workshop. Carlson continues, Kramer has 8 years’ worth of experience from the Daughters of the Revolution all the way to the Montgomery County Memorial Library system.

Carlson says, besides learning about your own personal history you will have a chance to benefit from the sites the museum has on hand. For in her work researching the past is a fun part of her job.

The workshop is $40 and includes a boxed lunch. You need to register by oct.3rd (friday). For more information or to sign-up; email star@blinn.edu or c all 936-878-2461 extension 234.
