A major accident on Highway 6 caused delays early Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened in the Northbound lanes of Highway 6 at the Navasota River and 2154 exit. A one ton Dually truck ran into the back of a semi-truck around 1:30 pm.

The crash caused a diesel fuel spill and the Dually ignited. Smoke caused traffic to slow in the southbound lanes as well. Crews landed a helicopter on highway 6 to assist.

Traffic was diverted to the 2154 exit, where drivers were able to get back on the highway after using the feeder road. Both drivers were trasported to the hospital with believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
