A traffic stop near La Grange last Friday resulted in the seizure of 15 pounds of fentanyl and two arrests.
According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, that happened March 5th, when Sergeant Randy Thumann and K9 partner Kolt stopped a Jeep SUV for a traffic violation on I-10, near La Grange.
Upon speaking to the driver, the officer became suspicious that the occupants were smuggling narcotics, and was given consent to search the vehicle. That is where Sergeant Thumann discovered an after-market compartment built into the rear of the vehicle. He accessed the compartment, which, according to the press release, was well constructed with electric motors.
Sergeant Thumann recovered five bricks of Fentanyl from the compartment, with an estimated street value of over $100 million dollars.
The driver, identified as 18 year old Briana Tenorio, and passenger, 20 year old Jonathan Gonzalez, both of Houston, were arrested for felony drug possession.
Both were booked into the Fayette County jail.
