An Aggie will be leading the Marine Corps. General Eric Smith, class of 1987, was confirmed by the U.S. Senate yesterday last Thursday by a 96 to nothing vote as the Marines Commandant.
The Four Star General is being promoted from Assistant Commandant of the service branch which has more than two hundred thousand active duty and reserve personnel. Smith was a member of A&M’s Corps of Cadets, serving as commander of the Aggie Band and a member of the Ross Volunteer Company.
