Five kilos of meth packed as candy seized on I-45

Authorities in Walker County seized meth packaged like candy at a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon.

According tot he Sheriff’s Office, they stopped a car on I-45 for a license plate violation. Deputies said they spoke with those inside the car, and became suspicious when their stories did not match.

The car was searched and inside, deputies found five kilos of meth sealed in candy wrappers. In total, the meth has an estimated street value of around $200,000.

The two people in the car were arrested and identified as 40 year old Jorge Hernandez and 24 year old Jessica Angel, both from Arkansas. They were taken to the Walker County Jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Hernandez has since bonded out of jail.
