According to a Press Release from the Texas Department of Transportation,
“Grimes County– FM 39 at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation (BNSF) Crossing (DOT# 900209F) will be closed Monday, April 15, 2024, beginning at 8:30 AM for the removal of the rail line. The closure is expected to last until 4:30 PM to allow the railroad time to remove the crossing.
Detours for the closure of FM 39 are noted below:
FM 39 Northbound traffic will detour to SH 90, Northbound on SH 90 to FM 1696 and then West on FM 1696 towards Iola.
FM 39 Southbound traffic will detour East on FM 1696 to SH 90 and then South on SH 90 towards Singleton.
To alert drivers, advance portable changeable message signs will be placed ahead of the closure. Drivers should utilize https://drivetexas.org/ to plan alternate routes or utilize the detour routes during this close.”
