A former Beidas man is in jail on a felony assault charge after shoving his girlfriend around their home, and trapping her inside.
Brazos County deputies responded to the home on Burt Road last Friday afternoon for the disturbance. The woman went to a relatives next door, who owned the property, and they told 40 year old Vernon Walter Heath III, formerly of Bedias, he was no longer welcome at the home.
The next day, Heath returned to see the woman, and they then began arguing because , according the arrest report, “he was hungry, and she was not moving fast enough.” The report says he assaulted her again in the home, wrapping a dog leash on he door so she could not leave. He then attempted choking her, and punched her with enough force to chip her tooth. Officers also observed other abrasions and bruises on the woman consistent with the statements.
Heath said he had been angry from losing his job, and said he woman had caused the injuries herself.
He was arrested on a felony charge of Assault of Family with Intent to Impede Breathing. He remains in jail on bonds totaling $10,000.
It is Heath’s 3rd time in jail since last year.
