67 year old William Birdwell was sentenced to the maximum two years for the felony crime of improper visual recording.
As part of four years probation, Birdwell will serve 21 consecutive days in the county jail next month. Birdwell was also ordered to perform 80 hours community service and undergo a psychological evaluation.
District Attorney Jarvis Parsons says the victim was in full agreement with the deal. Parsons also says this is right in line with similar cases prosecuted by his office.

On May 21st, the victim told police she intended to change into her workout clothes when she saw the camcorder, pointed towards a large bathroom mirror. Investigators found two recordings of Birdwell attempting to hide the camcorder as he was positioning the device. Parsons says there are no additional known victims.
Through his attorney, Birdwell declined comment. But his lawyer, Kyle Davis, issued the following statement: “Dr. Birdwell has been an active and involved member of this community for a long time. He is deeply sorry for his actions and accepts full
responsibility and consequences for them. He decided to quickly address the criminal charges in order to not delay the case which hopefully will help the complaining witness, his family and all those involved. Dr. Birdwell asks forgiveness from those affected.”
Davis says Birdwell surrendered his dental license after his arrest. Birdwell also resigned from the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.
