Former Madison County Sheriff’s Office employee charged with aggravated assault from 2000

March 31, 2020 by Andre Perrard

A former employee of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department has been arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault.

The Texas Rangers arrested 50 year old Ivan Wayne Linebaugh of Bedias on Monday afternoon. According to authorities, the assault happened in April of 2000.

Officials say the victim alleged that a marked patrol unit stopped her and a uniformed officer forced her to perform a sexual act instead of going to jail. The Rangers launched an investigation and collected DNA from the victims clothing.

The case was re-opened in 2017, as authorities looked into multiple leads. With the help of the FBI, DNA genealogy was used to arrest Linebaugh.

Linebaugh was employed by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department until 2011.
