An officer recognizing a former Navasota man driving with an invalid license takes him to jail on numerous charges.
The officer spotted 27 year old Darius Jarelle Mallard, formerly of Navasota, driving a vehicle, which the officer noted was a suspected vehicle in a weapon yielding incident in June.
In that June incident, Mallard’s vehicle evaded police, and ran over a police bicycle in the process, with no one reportedly injured. The officer also observed a false registration, noting it had been photocopied to look legal.
While processing his arrest, officers found in his vehicle a Smith and Wesson pistol. Mallard denied being the owner of the vehicle.
He was taken to jail, where he faces charges of Driving with License Invalid with Previous Conviction, Tampering with a Government Document, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
Mallard was released after posting a $10,000 bond.
