Former Navasota woman jailed for violating two criminal trespass warrants, stealing $500 in groceries

August 25, 2022 by Andre Perrard

A former Navasota with numerous previous theft convictions, and two active criminal trespass warrants, is in jail on a slew of charges after stealing $500 worth of groceries from HEB.

Around noon on Saturday, officers responded to the Kroger in Bryan for reports of a woman stealing ribeye steaks in her purse. Police followed 52 year old Lauri Ann Burrell, formerly of Navasota, to an apartment, where she tried jumping over a fence to evade police.

Included in her charges is an August 10th incident at HEB, where Burrell also has a trespass warrant. Burrell and another two accomplices went into the store three times that day, taking over 10 pounds of ground meat, and a few other items, totaling $550 dollars.

Burrell is in jail, facing two charges of Theft of Property under $2500 with two previous convictions, Evading and Resisting Arrest, plus Criminal Trespass.

Burrell remains in jail on bonds which total $45,000.
