A discovery of skeletal remains this morning has prompted an investigation by Navasota Police.
The Examiner first reported that around 10:30 am this morning. Chief Shawn Myatt said construction workers along the tracks near Railroad Street and Stoneham Street discovered what the thought was a human bone. More remains were found, confirmed to be human.
Myatt says a homeless community lives near the tracks in a wooded area, and it may be one of the community members who died of natural causes or during the winter storm.
Foul play is not suspected at this time, and no further information released.
