Four Navasota High School students receive welding honors, scholarship

February 10, 2021 by Andre Perrard

A few Navasota High School students have received some honors for their work in welding.

According to a Facebook post from Navasota ISD, four of their students continue having success in the Texas High School Welding Series. They say Alexander Silvan, Marco Mendoza, Jose Lopez, and Conner McDonald have competed in numerous events, and received several honors.

Three of them, Mendoza, Lopez and McDonald, have earned their AWS D9.1 Sheet Metal Welding certifications.

Silvan earned a $1,000 Ocean corporation scholarship, for continuing his education after graduation. In addition, he was awarded a Dive Coin to attend the Underwater Welding and Diving State Event this summer in Houston.

Navasota ISD also thanked and congratulated their sponsor Kelvin Neal.
