The woman in the viral Blue Bell video, seeing licking the ice cream and putting it back on the shelf in Lufkin, has been identified and will not face charges as an adult.
Lufkin PD have identified the woman in the video as a 17 year old juvenile from San Antonio. Lufkin PD on their Facebook page today said they will not press charges against the woman as an adult, and punishment is now up to the juvenile system. Police faced difficulties in finding her, as they say they had to comb through multiple “catfish” Twitter accounts posing as the girl and claiming responsibility for the incident.
Blue Bell posted on its website that their staff recognized a Lufkin Wal Mart as the location where the girl licked Tin Roof ice cream, replaced the lid, and returned the container to the store freezer.
After reviewing the store’s surveillance video, Blue Bell believes they may have recovered the tampered container. Blue Bell also removed all half gallons of Tin Roof from that location.
Authorities say the girl is connected to Lufkin through her boyfriend, and both were forthcoming and admitted what happened. Lufkin PD says they do not know the charges she will face in the juvenile system, and are still investigating the boyfriend’s involvement.
Blue Bell’s statement, meanwhile, did not address multiple requests on social media to add protective seals to their containers.
