The Grimes County Go Texan Committee is lending a helping hand to the security of the Grimes County Fairgrounds.
Commissioner Phillip Cox presented an update to their contract at Wednesday’s meeting of court, saying their past agreement was to allow utilization of the Fairgrounds of set dates, in exchange for the current, large sign.
“We got into another discussion that the Go Texan is in agreement to build a pipe row fence across the front portion of the property, including four gates. This would help the country with further access control there, in-use or not in-use. It is a pretty valuable project,” said Cox.
He did not mention the dollar value of the project.
As the court has noted with updates to their Fairground renter policies recently, security in recent months out there has been an issue.
“We feel like this, at least in discussions I have had with people, would address some of those issues,” said Cox.
The court approved the agreement, but no timetable was given for the construction of the fencing and gates.
