Governor Greg Abbott detailed his plans for the new Border Wall at the Rio Grande last week, which was met with praise and criticism from all sides.
Congressman Kevin Brady, who represents Grimes county, applauded the Governor’s efforts.
“It is a stunning indictment of President Biden’s failure to address or even acknowledge this border crisis. I have been to the border many times, and I have never seen anything like it. You talk to citizen’s, communities, law enforcement…you can see, it is a true crisis, and there is no abating of this right now, because the president has basically said ‘look, it is open borders,'” said Brady during a recent interview.
He noted, while seeing the violent crime and sex trafficking numbers rise is concerning, it is also equally concerning to see the amount of Fentanyl being smuggled into the country.
In response to the proclaimed crisis, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis last week pledged Florida law enforcement to the Texas border to help. And that was an action that impressed Brady.
“When Texas, when Governor Abbott and the legislature, has approved money for our Texas law enforcement to help, it has real results. So, we welcome Florida’s assistance there as well,” Brady said.
“Look, Washington needs to be paying for this. It is really, just sad, that states have to protect themselves, when Washington, and President Biden, simply won’t do it.”
