Governor Greg Abbott has asked the Texas Hospital Association to ask their members to voluntarily postpone elective medical procedures, for which a delay will not result in loss of life or the deterioration of a patient’s condition.
That’s one of two things Abbott did Monday afternoon, in an attempt to provide more hospital space. Abbott also ordered the opening of five more COVID antibody infusion centers to treat patients who do not need hospitalization with therapeutic drugs in an attempt to keep them out of the hospital.
And the governor ordered two state agencies, the department of emergency management and the health department, to increase vaccine availability and to promote getting vaccinated.
