Grimes County in College Station’s ETJ sights

July 16, 2018 by Andre Perrard

Because the population of College Station has topped one hundred thousand, the city can extend it’s extraterritorial jurisdiction…the distance from the city limits for future annexation…from three and a half to five miles. And that’s what was done at the last College Station city council meeting.

Planning and development director Lance Simms answered the question of why expand the E-T-J further into Grimes and Burleson counties.

The council agreed with Simms to ask Grimes County to enter an E-T-J development agreement similar to Burleson County.

Simms expects future annexation to take place first in Brazos County, along Highway six and F-M 2154. While Navasota is not off their radar, it would not be annexed anytime soon.

The city has already has an E-T-J development agreement with Brazos County.
