Grimes County Commissioners Court Makes “Domestic Violence Awareness Month” Proclamation

October 9, 2024 by Willy1550

October is “Domestic Violence Awareness Month,” and at the October 2nd regular meeting of Grimes County Commissioners Court, Judge Joe Fauth made the proclamation recognizing it.

After the proclamation was unanimously adopted by the court, Hilda Martinez with Focusing Families, spoke to the court regarding “Domestic Violence Awareness Month.”

Martinez said, “Every year she collects data from local agencies to give everyone an idea of how many people have been impacted by domestic violence within our area.”

But this year, she didn’t do that. Instead, she relayed the story of Andrea Rodriguez Avila, and how the community can help bring awareness to domestic violence.
