Grimes County Courthouse receives state award

February 7, 2020 by Willy1550

A state wide award has made its way to Grimes County.

“Grimes County, out of 254 counties in the State of Texas, received the Stewardship Award of Historical Courthouses,” said Judge Fauth.

County Judge Joe Fauth speaking at the most recent Commissioner’s Court meeting. He said that the county received more than just a crystal award.

“Along with it, we collected $1,000 from the Texas Historical Commission that we brought back,” said Fauth.

He also took time to commend the Grimes County Historical Commission and the county as a whole.

“I think it says a lot about us preserving the history in Grimes County, so thank you,” he said.

The award was presented to GCHC Chairman Al Peeler last week. No word on what the $1,000 would be used for in the county.
