A Navasota man is going to prison for the next 18 years after pleading guilty to sex crimes against children.
The Grimes County District Attorney’s Office announced on Wednesday that 24 year old Hector Arredando Garcia of Navasota pled guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of sexual assault of a child.
The investigation began in January of last year, when the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about a possible sexual assault. Form there, investigator Blake Baldobino determined Garcia had a sexual encounter with an underage female.
An exhaustive investigation, including interviews with other potential victims, led to search warrants, forensic downloads and forensic testing. Evidence showed Garcia had sexual encounters with multiple underage females over period of about two years.
Garcia, who has no prior criminal history, confessed in April 2021 to the crimes at his home in town, and was later indicted.
He will remain in the Grimes County ail before being transferred to his next unit for the 18 year sentence. He will also be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life upon release from prison.
